Port Hedland Airport Car Rental

Widely renowned as one of the airports that is going to be crucial in the continuing development of the country, Port Hedland International airport (IATA: PHE) is owned by the Town of Port Hedland and is an increasingly important hub for those working in the local, rapidly expanding mining industry.

Found just under six miles south east of Port Hedland and just under seven miles outside South Hedland, the airport finds itself right in the middle of a bustling community – and it’s no surprise that it has recently undergone an extensive expansion program to improve its offering as an international flight hub.

Following the expansion which saw taxiways, lighting and the terminal buildings improved dramatically, the airport now offers flights to several destinations within Australia as well as an international service to Denpasar in Bali. The following airlines operate out of the airport:

  • Airnorth - Flying to Broome, Darwin and Karratha
  • Qantas – Flying to Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth
  • Virgin Australia – Flying to Perth, Broome, Geraldton and Karratha

With such as extensive list of destinations comes an extensive list of arrivals too, and companies such as Hertz, Budget and Avis have been quick to provide Port Hedland airport car hire to those who fancy a little more convenience after they have landed in Western Australia. Public transport in the area doesn’t really match the requirements of the 14,000 local residents, nor the tourists who choose to flock to the area in the summer months, with many visitors finding renting a car simply a necessity to get themselves from A to B.
