Parkes Airport Car Rental

With over 30,000 passengers per year taking advantage of its brilliant transport links, Parkes airport (IATA: PKE) is undoubtedly one of the most important flight hubs in New South Wales, Australia. Found just under five miles north east of the town of Parkes, the airport is operated and maintained by the Parkes Shire Council and boasts two asphalt runways capable of sustaining both charter flights and larger commercial aircraft too.

During the year 2010-11 the airport saw over 32,000 passengers and 1,700 aircraft movements giving it a substantial reputation in the local area for providing excellent options for travel to the rest of Australia. Regional Express Airlines is the company tasked with providing regular trips to Sydney, which is the only city served from this local regional airport at the present time.

The town of Parkes itself has a population of just over 10,000, and is recognised as having a high importance in the scientific community of Australia thanks to its proximity to the Parkes Observatory, one of the few stations to receive a live feed from the Apollo moon landing in 1969. Tourists and those travelling to the area on business often enjoy visiting the observatory, particularly if they have an interest in outer space and the natural world. With substandard public transport in the area, thankfully the airport has given rise to a number of car hire companies which provide an extra option for travelling in style to the many visitors to the area. Comparing the prices of car hire from Parkes airport is one of the most important things any traveller can do before arrival, although many have reported excellent deals being offered at the airport too.
