Maun Airport has been welcoming flights long back even before World War II in the early 1930s. Initially two aircrafts were operated which are routed to Livingstone via Bulawayo from this airport. There are few tour operators who are now offering charted flights for sightseeing of Okavango Delta and rich wild life of Chobe National Park. The Okavango being the largest inland delta in the area gets evaporated in the summer and is filled up with rain water in winter months and attracts wild animals from long distances.
Maun Airport is small and is going to take expansion very soon as the older one is having small building and outdated technology in usage. There is a new runway under construction with all the latest methods in its construction that will soon be followed by buildings and infrastructures. Airlines that offer services to passengers through Maun Airport are Air Botswana, Air Namibia and Airlink to various destinations like Cape Town, Johannesburg, Victoria falls, Windhoek and Kasane. With all its natural beauty embedded in this town, Maun Airport is constantly attracting many people who wish to see wildlife very closely from many parts of the country.
